Řuk Ranetami

< ŘUK RANETAMI

Řuk Ranetami [ʀuq ra nɛ ˈta mi] is the name of a castle on Ranetami island, at the mouth of the Eärdur river, and of the small settlement around it.

The island has been fortified at various times since ancient times, though not always in the same location; there are still ruins of a Caďinorian fort halfway up the island. The present castle dates to the Vočnor dynasty.

The settlement is counted as a kešana (borough) of Verduria city— largely as a cheap ploy by the Navirora party to gain an easy seat, since the population is mostly sailors and traders. Though the island is low and swampy except for a thin rocky ridge along its eastern shore, there have been schemes to develop the island as a cool retreat from the dirty city— enough that ranetami has become a word for scams involving land or large risky enterprises.

Etymology: The island’s name is Ver. ‘frog pond’.
