Adurise

The Adurise (a du ˈri sɛ) race occupies the southern half of Arcél. Verdurians describe the skin color as azúršue “bluish”; we might describe it as a greyish brown, though under certain lights it does look rather bluish. Hair is a glossy black. The Adurisî tend to be smaller than Taësî or Telisî, and have smaller noses and thin lips.

Linguistically, the Adurisî can be divided into five families:

• Uyseʔic, found on the central southern coast, including the languages of Uytai, Nyandai, Siad βo, and Hlüim
• Mnesean, found in the southeastern tip of Arcél, Mnese, as well as the rift valley of Smë
• Eidnani-Kleʔmet’, spoken in the Kleʔmet’ river valley in Fananak as well as in the Eidnan peninsula 4000 km to the east
• Dnetic, a very diverse family found in the highlands of Fananak
• Itsenic, spoken in the Itseʔ river valley in Fananak

Noses are smaller as one travels east, leading to the Dnetic name for the Uyseʔic peoples: dašiwe ‘no-nose’.
