Ask questions here!
Zerrakhi points out that it may prove useful to have a place to ask questions ("Would it be a good idea to...?"). Consider it done! (Questions related to a particular page can be asked on its talk page, of course.) As stuff accumulates we'll probably need more organization, but this will do for now. IPA helpers?
I added a load of IPA transcriptions, and then discovered that they look terrible on IE. The fix is to change them from (say) (ɛsjɛ) to {{IPA|ɛsjɛ}}, which renders as [ɛsjɛ]. Note that the parentheses are included in the replacement. I'd be thrilled if people could make this change as they run across pages with IPA. Zompist 21:14, 28 August 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks to people who have been helping with this! I had the wrong CSS file set till last night, but now I'm seeing the correct IPA in IE. Zompist 09:00, 6 September 2006 (PDT)
Nations
The categorisation of nations isn't done quite the way I would have done it. Instead of putting an article such as, say, Nan in both the Nations and Ereláe categories, I would have created a category Nations of Ereláe as a subcategory of both Category:Nations and Category:Ereláe, and put it in that. A level deeper, I would also make, say, a category Nations of Eretald as a subcategory of both Nations of Ereláe and Category:Eretald. In my opinion, that would be neater and more organised -- if categories are too heterogeneous they defeat the purpose of having categories in a Wiki, which is (at least in part) to provide a sort of an "if you enjoyed that article, you may also be interested in these" list, and I think Category:Eretald (for example) is counterproductively heterogeneous. Small Question
Sorry if this is explained somewhere else, but what are the "N" and "m" letters on the Recent Changes pages for? I gues N means New Page created, but what about m? (user:Raphael)
-m is "minor edit" you check it at the bottom of the edit page if your edit was, well, minor. Furius
Where to ask topic-specific questions
If I have a question about something Almean that has an article here, should I rather use that article's talk page, or start a thread in the ZBB's Almea forum? --Raphael 07:52, 13 June 2007 (PDT)
- Either is fine. A couple of heuristics: If you want wider discussion, use the ZBB since it's a larger community. And if you're commenting on something in the article (as opposed to just something inspired by the topic), it's probably best to do it here. Zompist 10:42, 13 June 2007 (PDT)
Which Styleguide?
Is there any specific styleguide you prefer to be used for articles here? I've been playing editor, but I'm not a native English speaker, and some of the styleguides I own contradict one another, for example on the use of capital letters after an ellipsis, such as in Čiȟta. - I don’t follow a specific style guide... try to follow my usage if you can figure it out. If I don’t like a change I’ll back it out. :) Generally you should see lower case after an ellipsis, but a capital after an ellipsis plus period (....).Zompist 14:15, 23 October 2009 (PDT)
