Dalmaž [ˈdal maʒ] is a town on the Svetla, 25 km south of Žésifo, part of the kingdom of Ctésifon. It was a prosperous town in ancient times, a favorite retreat for nobles wishing for a restful retreat from the bustle of Ctesifon. It declined into little more than a village during the Dark Years, nestled amid extensive Caďinorian ruins.

Dalmaž dynasty
2917-2941 Bura
2941-2950 Ertala

At that time it was a surcontana or marquisate, and the surcont Bura led a successful rebellion (2917) against the Curiyans who then ruled the central Svetla. The key battle of the war, in fact, took place near Dalmaž, whose hills Bura knew well and which provided cover for his army, allowing him to surprise the overconfident Curiyan horsemen. Bura considered himself to have reestablished the Caďinorian empire, though the area he controlled was only a small stretch of the Svetla. His son Ertala attempted to coerce Verduria to accept "imperial" rule, and found his realm conquered by Caleon of Verduria instead (2950). The marquisate was abolished by the Verdurians.

Bura referred to his dynasty as a continuation of the Dascoro dynasty, as he had married Mélnite, daughter of Oporo, the accepted heir of the Dascoroi. Ertala at first used Dascoro, then Bure (Buran), then Bracsë ('glorious'). Historians use Dalmaž after Bura's title. Most do not consider it a revival of the empire at all, but a more modest state, the kingdom of Ctésifon.
