Davur
(-650 - -270)
Characteristics
Capital: Toťios
Government: Monarchy
Language: Meťaiun

Davur was the largest of the ancient Meťaiun kingdoms, founded about -650. Its king, Gutein, had achieved his extended borders largely by gifts and promises of autonomy. At its height it occupied the Svetla valley to past Žésifo, and the Eärdur to about the site of Eleisa; the capital was Toťios, across the river from the later castle of Erruk.

Like all the Meťaiun kingdoms its strength was illusory: its king was the elected leader of a squabbling nest of barons, who were likely to desert and perhaps execute him at the first military defeat. When the opponents were other Meťaiun kingdoms, the result was simply a relatively peaceful adjustment of borders; when the Cuzeians and Caďinorians invaded, it prevented any concerted counter-action.

The Cuzeians quickly (-360 to -350) conquered two-thirds of the country. The process created a rush of refugees, some of which headed up the Eärdur to found the kingdom of Tevarē, others of which sailed to settle Kebri, there creating the kingdom of Davrio, named for their last land.

The Kahinisa occupied the lower Svetla in -300, following the loss of Cuzeian authority there; in -270 they conquered the remainder of Davur .
