The Irenja (Ver. irenža [i 'rɛn ʒa]) is the narrow grassland extending west of the Western Wild, past the River Migoda. To the north lies the Rau Jungle, and to the south are the Elkarin Mountains, the Elcari kingdom at Elkarinor and farther west the Múrtani state.
The region is sparsely populated by a few Telise peoples, though there are some ungoverned Verdurian speakers in its eastern parts. Towards the west, any definite Verdurian knowledge of the interior of the continent ends and speculation begins. Anything that can be found in the Irenja (including elephants) can probably be bought at Funky, a lively trading town just to the east.

Etymology: Ver. irenža ‘savannah’; from Irinja, the name given to the region by a South Rafsani tribe.
