The republic of Mišicama
The entire region east of the Ctelm Mountains found itself independent of Caďinorian rule in the 2400s, when the Bešbalicu took Žésifo. The valley of the Shkónoro, threatened by barbarians, united as the kingdom of Sarnáe; but the coastal region, farther from the barbarians and tied more closely to Eretald by ocean trade, felt no need for kings, and became a loose republic, with its capital at Govanro.
They were conquered by Aitän of the Gelyet, along with Sarnáe, in 2536-38, and suffered their brutal and destructive rule, but regained its independence by the end of the century as the Gelyet declined.
The new threat was Dhekhnam, which swallowed up the eastern nation of Visecra in 2550. The republic learned to keep a low profile, even tolerating Dhekhnami espionage directed at its neighbors, and proselytization of Gelalhát. After the final Dhekhnami conquest of Sarnáe, however, its continued existence offered no further benefits to the ktuvoks, and they conquered the country in 3160-72. Their longterm friendliness to Dhekhnam only slightly mitigated their subjugation-- the Visecrans seem to be the ktuvoks' favored Central people. Nonetheless, Govanro remains a prosperous port and important Dhekhnami stronghold.
