< MÚTKÜN

Mútkün [ˈmut kyn] is a Dhekhnami dependency in the west of Eretald, located on the Eärdur river. Originally the southern part of Barakhún, it was formed after a Dhekhnami-sponsored rebellion in the late 3100s. It now serves as a base for Dhekhnami espionage in Eretald, and its leaders profess Gelalhát. Though Mútkün was originally a confederacy of barons (like Hroth), the baron of Mútkün city (known as the nashtorî) has acquired near-absolute power with Dhekhnami assistance.

The country's seemingly precarious position in the west of Eretald is countered by its command of a large section of the Eärdur River, which also gives it a fairly high population; more than any of the other Barakhinei-speaking countries.

Independence: 3182 (from Barakhún)

Neighbors: Verduria (to SE), Barakhún (to NW), Hroth (to SW), Lácatur (to NE)

Etymology: Bar. Mutkhun ‘land of terror’; the Ver. spelling Mútkün reflects the local dialectal pronunciation.
