Potato

The potato is a leafy vine which forms thick edible tubers. Potatoes are highly starchy, and quite nutritious, though low in protein. There is quite a variety available in Uytai, of many shapes, flavors, and sizes, and with colors ranging from white to red to deep purple. The tubers can be boiled, roasted, or cut up and fried. If they’re soaked in water, the starch dissolves, the water is then evaporated off, and the powdery starch is used to size cotton cloth.
The Jaešeni were the first to bring the potato back to Ereláe, in the 3000s, from their colony of Fananak. The Kebreni introduced it to Eretald not long after.
The long yam (Uyseʔ hrin) is a relative, longer in shape, its flesh both softer and sweeter.
