Revaudo
From Almeopedia
Revaudo describes a religious and political movement in 30th and 31st century Xurno, the reformed form of Endajué that was founded by this movement, and the period in Xurnese history that was shaped by the rise of this movement and the conflicts between its supporters and opponents. Additionally, "Revaudo Wars" can be used for the civil wars between Royalists and supporters of Revaudo, and "Revaudo Xurno" can be used for the Revaudo side in the Revaudo Wars, and for the state founded by the Revaudo revolutionaries.
Etymology: X. Revaudo- "Newness".
Background
Xurno had been founded in a time when Xengiman was frequently invaded by Barbarians from the Barbarian Plain, most notably the Gelyet, and the entire structure of society had been build around defense against that threat. Cities had been turned into enormous fortresses that could sustain themselves for years during a siege, complete with fields inside to feed the population, as well as peasants that had been evacuated from the surrounding countryside. It had become the norm that the entire adult population had to undergo military training, so that it could be conscripted in time of war- nobles as cavalry, male commoners as pikesmen, and female commoners as archers.
Over the centuries, the Barbarian threat slowly became less relevant, and by the 29th century, many parts of Xurno had never seen Barbarian raiders on the horizon. But large amounts of tax money were still spend on maintenance of fortifications, military supplies, and an omnipresent military bureaucracy; people still had to spend a lot of time on miltary training and exercises that they might have used for other activities; and a mindset among the authorities that demanded absolute obedience from the population meant that it was very difficult to complain about corruption and other abuses of power by officials and nobles. So, in the late 29th century, a lot of discontent was waiting for an outlet.
Religious Revival
Around 2900, some beylusú started to talk about a return to the roots of Endajué.
