Rift valleys

Located in the eastern part of the mountain region of Arcél, the rift valleys form a multitude of small ecological and cultural zones, separated from each other and from the outside world by the simple difficulty of traveling to or from them. There are species--and even a few suspected genera--which appear in only one rift valley and nowhere else on Almea. Unlike their closest terrestrial counterpart in Indonesia, the rift valleys are temperate; they are also generally warmer than the surrounding mountains.
