Sūās [su:a:s] was the northern portion of Cuzei, an independent kingdom from the time it was won from Davur (-355). It became the kingdom of Duke Voricêlias; its capital was Sonardos, on the Isrēica.
Around -270 it allied with Cayenas to undertake the final war against Davur, and it briefly ruled a part of Lacatūr.
In 92 it was invaded by the Kahinisa, who conquered Sonardos in 95. The king, Yerorōvas, asked the king of Cuzei, Lôdicūnas, for help; but the payment— essentially, incorporation into Cuzei— seemed too high, until the Kahinisa were actually at the gates of Tòurias. Lôdicūnas was invited in, and pushed the Kahinisa out of the country. Yerorōvas was allowed to rule until his death in 104, but then his territory was absorbed by Cuzei.
The name of the country is preserved in that of the Nasuael Swamp; Nasuael is a half-calque on Cuêzi (Guiscue) Lacatosūelo ‘north Sūās (swamp)’.
