Taëse
From Almeopedia
The Taëse [ta ˈjɛ sɛ] race inhabits eastern Ereláe. As this area includes Verduria and the other most advanced human states of Almea, the Taësî receive the lion’s share of Almeological attention. They are in general darker than Caucasians, and possess an epicanthic fold, which gives them an East Asian appearance. Their hair varies from brown or auburn to blond or reddish.
Verdurians divide the Taësî into four skin colors:
- brune “brown”, their own color; comparable to Arabs or mestizo Hispanics
- gríššue “greyish”, for Dhekhnami, Monkhayu, and Kebreni (including Sarnáe and Érenat); not quite like any terrestrial group
- čaise “tea-colored”, for the southern fringe of Eretald and the Barbarian Plain, including Lenan; comparable to Greeks or Italians
- fale “white” for the people of Xengiman and Skouras, comparable to French or Polish

The linguistic division is somewhat different:
- Eastern, including the Central family of which Verdurian is a part, as well as Karazi, Naviu, Axunaic, and Čia-Ša
- Lenani-Littoral, including Tžuro and Old Skourene
- Wede:i-Mei, including Wede:i (the language of ancient Xengiman), Mei, and Fei
- Monkhayic, the language of ancient Eretald, now spoken only in Monkhay and Kebri
- Eynleyni, including the languages of Munkhâsh and Dhekhnam
- Qarau, spoken in the far east of Ereláe
Etymology: Ver. taë ‘our(s)’ + adjectivizing suffix. Taëse is pronounced “tah-yeh-seh”; the plural is Taësî.
