Talk:Kečǽnə

I should note that while Legion did appear to have the idea on his own, he was far from the first ZBBer to propose doing something like the Historical Telephone game. Indeed, the first one to have this idea, to my knowledge, was vlad - whose proposal sparked off the Shaja Project that's essentially the same idea and is still ongoing in C&C after more than a year of work. --Radius

I'm not familiar with that... did Vlad's idea include competition to reconstruct the proto-language? And was there any such competition? By the way, you can sign comments in MediaWiki by typing ~~~~ (four tildes). They get changed into your name + the date. Zompist 22:34, 30 March 2006 (PST)

I'm not sure if Vlad's original proposal included competition to reconstruct the proto-language, but it quickly evolved into that in the thread's early days. The competition has yet to happen, and for that matter, even the daughter languages haven't yet been made beyond a few sketches. Radius 01:42, 31 March 2006 (PST)

I wonder if spelling the planet "Ketchanna" may make it somewhat easier to type? BGMan 14:24, 13 November 2007 (PST)
Fantasy names shouldn't be over-anglicized; they look funny and are just as likely to be mispronounced. (If a name looks foreign, people will often use Italian-style vowels for it anyway; with "Ketchanna" that would make all three vowels wrong.) (And while we're at it, the pronunciation isn't keh-chana, it's kay-chana.) It can be cut and pasted when needed. Zompist 00:17, 14 November 2007 (PST)
Got my own spelling conventions wrong; it is an ɛ after all. The planet can now also be called by its wimpier Adāta name Akana. Zompist 10:20, 24 November 2007 (PST)
