From Almeopedia
The calendar usually used in Almean studies, the zonî Erei, starts in a historical era of Ereláe that is not at all equivalent to the historical era in Eurasia in which the Christian calendar starts. Therefore, people who are new to the history of Almea might find it difficult to keep track of what stage of historical development they're at when they read about an event in Almean history. To further complicate matters, while technological development in eastern Ereláe seems to have happened at almost the same speed as technological development in Europe, northern Africa and western Asia, it was apparently a bit slower.
This is an attempt to help with understanding the history of eastern Ereláe by listing some famous historical events and, for each of them, giving a year in the Christian calendar that is roughly equivalent to to the year on Almea in which that event happened, as far as the stage of historical development is concerned.
The current year in Almea is 3480 ZE. Leading authorities usually agree that eastern Ereláe is roughly on the same level of technological, economic and political development as Europe in 1750 AD. Written history on Oikumene is usually thought to have started in the ancient Sumerian culture around 3100 BC; written history on Almea is usually thought to have started in the ancient Wede:i culture around -1550 ZE. It follows that the cultures of eastern Ereláe needed about 5030 Almean years for the amount of historical development that took about 4850 Oikumenean years in Europe, north Africa and the West of Asia. If we simplify things a lot and pretend that these things can be precisely calculated, we can conclude that one Almean year of written history in eastern Ereláe is equivalent to about 0.964 Oikumenean years of written history in Europe, the North of Africa, and western Asia.
Based on these asumptions, the following table was calculated- years on Almea are in the left column, historical events are in the central column, and roughly equivalent years on Oikumene are in the next column. (To make calculations easier, the author acted as if there had been a Year Zero in both calendars.) The right-hand column contains the actual Earth dates of equivalent events, if there is one.
