Tyellakh
From Almeopedia
Tyellakh is an Eynleyni nation. Today it is a part of southern Dhekhnam. It has its own language, Tyellakhi, closely related to Demoshi. It is mostly a poor, rural country with little significance in Almean history.
History
In -1150, Tyellakh, inhabited by hunter-gatherers, was absorbed by the ktuvok empire of Munkhâsh. The Tyellakhi were ruled by the demons for more than 2000 years, till the Qarau invaded Munkhâsh in the XII century, leaving the bewildered Eynleyni free. The organization of an independent state was taken as a confirmation of Munkhâshi decline. In 1644, the nation lost its freedom again, this time conquered by Attafei. In 1895 the country was independent again, but it retained both Gelalhát and the hierarchical social structure taught by the ktuvoks. Having no prisoners of war on hand, they had to sacrifice animals. They traded fairly normally with their neighbors (not that there was much worth having in Tyellakh).
In 2537, the union of Tyellakh with the ktuvoki formed the new state of Dhekhnam. The Tyellakhi had been in no hurry to return to the subordinate role they had played in Munkhâsh; but they were hard-pressed by the Gelyet and the Coruo, and looked to the demons for help. Ktuvoks are harsh rulers, but do not kill or rape their subjects for pleasure like barbarians often do. For their part the ktuvoks promised a partnership, with the spoils of empire to be divided equally. As even their neighbors had lost the habit of paying attention to the demons, the external threat implicit in this arrangement went unheeded. The country remains under ktuvok rule till today, though it was briefly ruled by the Gelyet in the XXVIII century. Although Tyellakh is the oldest part of Dhekhnam, the dominant people are the Demoshi.
