• Vešdan

Vešdan [ˈvɛʃ dan] is a small city located along the Menla river in Verduria province. It likes to call itself the center of the province, and it does have some prominence due to its location astride the Menla (which runs east-west) and the highway that goes north to Verduria city and south to Ulian. It's the fourth-largest town in the province, and during the Dark Years it retained enough of the civilized arts to maintain its court.

Etymology: Ver. Vešdan from Meť. 'blue' + Ver. 'town', Bar. Fêshdan.

The Täl family

It's the seat of a surcont, of the powerful Täl family, which also holds the hipcontana of Borodino. The current surcont Vešdan is Örnric. The Täl family has invested heavily in the sea trade and in manufacturing; Örnric’s father's cousin Orest Täl was head of the Sea Traders from 3419 to 3444, and prime minister from 3444 to 3451.
