Vipodoȟ
From Almeopedia
Vipodoȟ [vi po ˈdox] is a tropical area in northwestern Ereláe, north of Téllinor. The northern areas are populated by garden agriculturalists; settled agriculture is practised in the south, based on heatherweed, waybean, spinnut, and the tubers roya and mokoki. Temperate crops do not do well there, which led to the failure of an attempted Verdurian colony, Cerrežne, organized in part by Osör Ružeon.
Its human population is racially Telise, known for a distinctive caramel skin color which deepens toward the equator. In the north and in the interior languages belong to the Interior Vipodoȟ family, and in the south and the middle coast, to Yamda-Trêng. Only speakers of the latter family have adopted metallurgy, and it has not extended to the Žubul.
The major rivers, north to south, are the Kita, the Pértui, and the Alí; Cerrežne was located at the mouth of the latter. (The final stress on Alí, characteristic of Interior Vipodoȟ languages, suggests that the Yamda-Trêng speakers are historically invaders.)
