Western [ˈwɛs trn] is a language family found in the Rau jungle, Nan and its satellites, and extending across the Zone of Fire into the Bekkayin states and Omeguo. They are believed to be related to the Ur-Kagöt languages.

With the exception of Nanese, these langauges are not well known. Typologically they vary quite a bit: some of the southern languages are polysynthetic, the northern languages are agglutinating and prefixing, and the Bekkayin languages are isolating.

The family is divided into three subfamilies, shown here with some of the known languages:

• South Rafsani
  • Moa, the language of Leru Leru
  • Tekan and Kwatl, spoken in the Rau delta
  • Ŋgek, spoken on the lower Rau
• North Rafsani or Nanese
  • Noyanese, a language of the coast spoken north of Nan
  • Nanese, the language of Nan
  • Löüɮ and Ñõĥ, spoken to the west of Nan
  • Sírotu, Gávean, and Lae-Atu, the languages of the Alfonsine Coast
  • Aldovian, the language of Moreo Ašcai
  • Lascitan, spoken on the island of Lascita just south of the equator
• Bekkayin
  • Omeguese and K'aitani, spoken in Omeguo
  • Urunči, Badese, and Mokaš, spoken on the Bekkayin coast
  • Murrain, spoken on Murray island east of Omeguo
