Wheat is the staple crop of Eretald and Dhekhnam. It’s a grass with small, long kernels, which are ground into flour and baked into bread. It’s also fermented into beer, especially in the mountains where barley doesn’t grow well. It’s the Southern Hemisphere cereal with the highest protein content (about 12%).

It seems to be native to Eretald, where native relatives can still be found in the wild; the wild varieties release their grains as they mature, while the domesticated plant retains them.
